Zachary Piper Solutions is currently seeking a
DevOps Engineer
to support a highpriority national security mission. This position supports the
Infrastructure Support and Software Development Services division
, which delivers all IT services for our Federal clients' Infrastructure & Operations, Software Development, Engineering, and Service Desk functions. This is a
fulltime position
based in the
National Capital Region (Washington, DC area)
and is expected to be
onsite or hybrid
due to clearance and mission requirements. This role is critical to ensuring security is fully embedded across the software development lifecycle while enabling efficient, modern DevOps practices in a highstakes environment. As a DevOps Engineer, you will play a pivotal role in integrating security, development, and operations to protect systems that directly support counterterrorism and national security operations.
Key Responsibilities:
Ensure security is fully integrated throughout the Software Development Life Cycle (SDLC), from design through deployment and operations.
Combine software development and IT operations practices to create a streamlined, efficient, and secure DevOps environment.
Design, implement, and maintain DevSecOps pipelines, embedding automated security controls and compliance checks.
Work across development and operations domains, including coding, infrastructure management, system administration, and DevOps toolchains.
Collaborate closely with infrastructure, engineering, and software development teams to support missioncritical systems.
Support Infrastructure & Operations as well as Software Development and Engineering initiatives.
Apply DevOps best practices to improve reliability, scalability, and security of enterprise systems.
Ensure systems meet federal security standards and national security compliance requirements.
Interact daily with technical teams and stakeholders to deliver against customer and mission requirements.
Requirements:
10+ years of professional experience in software engineering, systems engineering, DevOps, or related technical roles
Proven experience in a DevSecOps engineering role
Strong knowledge of DevOps principles and practices
Strong understanding of software development methodologies
Experience across development and operations, including:
Top Secret Clearance Required
Coding and scripting
Infrastructure and platform management
System administration
DevOps and CI/CD toolchains
Bachelor's Degree required
Advanced degree preferred
Compensation:
$140,000 - $150,000 *based on experience*
PTO, Paid Holidays, Health, Dental, Vision, 401K, Sick Leave as required by Law
