Data Engineer - Clinical Data Mart (Remote, West Coast Preferred) EX BCBS Preferred

Key Responsibilities:
Build dbt Pipelines:

Design and maintain staging, intermediate, and semantic layers using dbt best practices (testing, documentation, CI/CD).
EHR Data Transformation:

Normalize HL7/FHIR or proprietary schemas into standardized entities (patients, encounters, orders).
Data Modeling:

Develop conformed dimensions and fact tables that abstract the complexities of EHR systems.
Automation & Quality:

Implement robust dbt tests and integrate with orchestration tools like Airflow or Prefect.
Cross-Functional Collaboration:

Work closely with clinical informaticists and BI teams to validate data and refine requirements.
Required Skills:
4+ years of experience with cloud data warehouses (Snowflake, BigQuery, Redshift)
4+ years hands-on development with

dbt

(models, tests, documentation, CI/CD)
Strong proficiency in

SQL

and data structures
Python

for scripting, macros, and custom transformations
Familiarity with data pipeline orchestration and quality frameworks
Nice to Have:
Experience in healthcare reporting (e.g., MIPS, MACRA)
Integration of non-clinical data sources (HRIS, public datasets)
Experience with HL7/FHIR standards
Exposure to cloud-based EHR APIs (highly preferred)
Background in AI/ML within the healthcare domain
Overall healthcare industry experience
