Hansen Talent Group is hiring a

COBOL Developer

to support a mainframe-based enterprise environment.

This role focuses on designing, developing, and supporting complex applications within a healthcare claims processing environment. You'll work on EDI transactions, collaborate with business and technical teams, and ensure reliable data processing across critical systems.

What You'll Do

Analyze, design, develop, and implement complex COBOL-based applications
Support healthcare EDI processing, including claims and eligibility transactions
Collaborate with business analysts and stakeholders to translate requirements into technical solutions
Design, code, test, and debug programs in a mainframe environment
Perform system enhancements, conversions, and post-implementation support
Create and execute test plans, validate results, and maintain documentation
Evaluate system impacts and dependencies across applications
Provide guidance and technical support to junior developers
Support production systems, including troubleshooting and on-call responsibilities
What You'll Need

Strong COBOL development experience (mainframe environment)
Experience with healthcare claims and EDI processing (X12 transactions)
6+ years of application development, systems testing, or related experience
Experience with CICS, DB2, IMS, MQ, and JCL
Strong understanding of SDLC, system design, and integration methodologies
Ability to analyze complex systems and troubleshoot issues effectively
Strong communication and collaboration skills
