Job Summary
The role of the paraprofessional is to provide academic and social support for students and in the classroom to increase curriculum access for students in Yorkville CUSD 115. The paraprofessional must demonstrate collaboration skills with school personnel, work in implementation and monitoring of interventions, support small groups or individual students, and facilitate communication between stakeholders for each student. This is a 10‑month position.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

Demonstrate knowledge of student needs, including educational, medical, physical, sensory, speech/language, social/emotional, recreational, vocational, etc., as determined by a multidisciplinary team and implement as needed.

Maintain strict confidentiality regarding all matters pertaining to students and personnel.

Demonstrate effective organizational skills, time management, and flexibility to meet staff and student needs.

Planning and Preparation

Check and maintain appropriate student‑related equipment after receiving specialized training.

Complete paperwork and data‑tracking duties to assist the educational team.

Communicate concerns and predictions of challenges to the professional team for planning.

Provide direct instructional and academic support to students throughout the day as directed by the team.

Assist students with daily activities such as lifting, positioning, feeding, using the washroom, and personal hygiene.

Implement special tools/programs following training to assist students with varied needs/diagnoses.

Instruction

Assist teachers in maintaining an inclusive, learning‑centered environment.

Assist and monitor student use of assistive technology.

Assist students in accessing instructional content through organization, accommodations, and modifications.

Professional Responsibilities

Establish a positive rapport with staff, students, and families.

Consult or meet with teachers or professionals to resolve concerns and seek guidance for new tasks.
