Job Description
This position offers an annual bonus package to newly hired speech-language pathologists, with amounts of

$7,000

(first year),

$5,000

(second year), and

$3,000

(third year). Employees may also receive a 5% local salary supplement and a comprehensive benefits package that includes health, dental, vision, life insurance, state pension, annual leave, sick leave, and holiday pay.

Responsibilities

Assist students with special communicative needs to achieve their maximum communication potential, both receptively and expressively.

Coordinate speech-language services with educational staff and families while maintaining accurate records.

Organize the school program, cooperate with others to accomplish its goals, and coordinate services with other student services.

Conduct screening and testing, obtain diagnostic information, analyze data, and recommend programs and services.

Supervise speech-language assistants and clinical fellows working toward ASHA certification.

Develop individual education plans for each speech-language eligible child in collaboration with classroom teachers, parents, LEA representatives, and other professionals.

Plan therapy, use appropriate diagnostic tools and techniques, and manage time, facilities, and resources to facilitate service delivery.

Provide consultation, seek assistance of others, use research, and make recommendations and referrals for service implementation.

Complete random moment-in-time studies as required by MAC program guidelines.

Perform other related work as required.

Qualifications

Master’s degree in Speech-Language Pathology.

G license from the North Carolina Department of Public Instruction.

Essential Functions

Operate a variety of equipment and tools, including computers and assistive technology.

Exert up to 10 pounds of force occasionally and handle equipment safely.

Communicate effectively with staff, students, and families.

Read and interpret technical manuals, newsletters, and training materials.

Apply logical and scientific thinking to define problems, collect data, and draw conclusions.

Document sessions accurately and maintain inventories of supplies.

Create simple reports and maintain complete records.

Establish and maintain effective working relationships as required.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

Thorough knowledge of speech pathology theory, principles, and methods for educational settings.

Comprehensive knowledge of assessment tools and current literature, trends, and developments.

Knowledge of equipment and assistive technology available for therapy.

Organizational and administrative knowledge.

Skill in providing a wide range of treatment activities and selecting appropriate assessment methods.

Ability to plan, coordinate, and conduct ongoing training and continuing education.

Ability to screen, evaluate, and deliver required speech pathology services.

Ability to develop and implement individualized programs and document sessions accurately.

Ability to maintain adequate inventory, complete records, and develop reports.

Capability to establish and maintain effective professional relationships.
