As the Financial Analyst – Financial Reporting, you will serve as MSF’s key accounting expert, ensuring the accuracy, integrity, and transparency of our financial statements. Your work directly supports MSF’s financial stewardship and long‑term stability, helping us fulfill our mission to protect Montana’s workforce. What you will do
Financial Reporting:
Coordinate and oversee MSF’s quarterly financial reporting process to produce timely and accurate financial statements and accompanying reports on both a statutory and GASB accounting basis. Oversee MSF’s accounting structure, general ledger, and financial internal controls with a goal of continuous improvement.
Management Reporting:
Prepare internal financial projections, financial statement narratives, and presentations for use by MSF management and MSF’s Board of Directors.
Audit Support:
Coordinate the completion of annual, independent financial statement audits on both statutory and GASB accounting bases.
Strategic Financial Analysis:
Employ a strategic mindset to identify insights regarding MSF’s financial condition, trends and developments, and long‑term trajectory. Participate on cross‑functional teams as financial subject matter expert as needed.
Finance & Actuary Team Participation:
Foster engagement within yourself and the Finance & Actuary team. Promote a customer experience mindset. Provide advice and mentorship to other members of the team. Review and approve the work of other members of the team as needed.
What you will need (minimum qualifications)
Bachelor’s degree in business administration, finance, accounting, or a related field.
Three (3) years professional work experience in accounting or financial reporting.
Ability to effectively use technology and digital tools to perform work tasks, solve problems, and communicate, i.e. digital competency.
Preferred
Experience within the insurance industry.
Experience performing technical accounting research.
Job location
This position requires primarily on‑site presence in the Helena, MT office, but is open to supporting a hybrid work arrangement.
Working conditions
Fast paced general office environment. Some stress may occur. Requires sitting for extended periods of time, standing, visual acumen, manual dexterity, detailed verbal communications and fine finger manipulation for working with computer keyboards.
Compensation and Benefits
Starting salary for this Exempt position begins at $80,700-$100,800 per year.
