Job Description Summary
The Licensed Social Worker (LISW), Licensed Professional Counselor (LPC) or Licensed Professional Counselor-Associate (LPC-A) reports to the Division Director. This position will work in the MUSC Project REX clinic. This clinic is an outpatient clinical environment working with kids, adolescents and adults with Autism Spectrum Disorders. This provider will provide psychosocial assessment, active treatment, case management, and related documentation in collaboration with a multi-disciplinary treatment team. Treatment will include individual therapy, family therapy, and group therapy to those struggling with developmental disabilities and other co‑morbid mental health conditions. Guidance and support from more senior clinicians will be available. Experience with these populations is necessary. Also, particular interest in patients 6‑10 yo would be preferred.

Job Duties and Responsibilities

Provides individual and group therapy to adult and adolescent patients in an outpatient general psychiatry treatment clinic located within an academic medical center.

Interviews client, family and any other providers to assess the patient's level of functioning, strengths and deficits, and emotional status.

Develops a comprehensive picture of the client's service and treatment needs.

Serves as a member of the treatment team in the diagnostic evaluation of clients and the identification of treatment objectives.

Education

Licensed Social Worker (LISW): Master's Degree in Social Work or Social Welfare program accredited by the Council on Social Work Education required.

Licensed Professional Counselor (LPC): Master's Degree in Counseling or related field for LPC from an accredited program.

Licensed Professional Counselor-Associate (LPC-A): Master's Degree in Counseling or related field for LPC-A from an accredited program.

Required Work Experience
At least four years of relevant work experience.

Required Licensure, Certifications, Registrations
Master’s degree in a social work or social welfare program accredited by the Council on Social Work Education or from a social work program or social welfare program offered by a regionally accredited institution.

Degree of Supervision
LISW/LPC/LPC‑A will be assigned a Primary Supervising/Collaborating Physician employed by MUSC and will report directly to this physician.

Physical Requirements
Continuous requirements are to perform job functions while standing, walking and sitting. Ability to bend at the waist, kneel, climb stairs, reach in all directions, fully use both hands and legs, possess good finger dexterity, perform repetitive motions with hands/wrists/elbows and shoulders, reach in all directions. Ability to be qualified physically for respirator use, initially and as required. Maintain 20/40 vision corrected, see and recognize objects close at hand and at a distance, work in a latex safe environment and work indoors. Frequently lift, lower, push and pull and/or carry objects weighing 50 lbs (+/-) unassisted, exert up to 50 lbs of force, lift from 36" to overhead 25 lbs. Infrequently work in dusty areas and confined/cramped spaces.
