Job Description
Job Purpose:
A Fire Protection Purchasing Manager is responsible for monitoring inventory levels, negotiating, and purchasing materials and equipment required for fire protection systems (sprinklers, alarms, suppression systems). This role ensures cost‑effective procurement while maintaining compliance with industry standards, project timelines, and safety regulations, and providing customer service to clients and vendors.
Primary Duties:
Research and procure repair parts and material based on manufacturer, pricing and availability.
Order equipment per job scope of work, availability and scheduling.
Ensuring all acquired equipment meets codes and regulatory standards.
Order processing, which involves creating purchase orders, submitting orders via various methods.
Following through on shipping/delivery details and communicating updates to appropriate teams.
Maintain accurate records of items purchased, received, prepared and issued.
Develop strong working relationships with key suppliers and vendors.
Analyze inventory balances, maintain seasonal inventory and reorder as needed.
Help identify and pursue opportunities to reduce the cost of goods and services procured.
Manage material/equipment returns for all departments.
Works in tandem with Warehouse Manager regarding orders. Supports internal customers.
Works with management, requesters and staff to resolve purchasing related issues.
Perform other duties as needed.

Experience with business-to-business commerce and Internet communication software.
Experience in customer service.
Technical capacity. Problem solving and decision making.
Knowledge of safety operations and procedures, safety methods and practices, and public/customer service skills.
Knowledge of business English, proper spelling, grammar, punctuation, and excellent arithmetic skills.
Ability to communicate, read, and write clearly in basic English; ability to speak Spanish as a second language preferred.
Ability to establish and maintain professional relationships with individuals of varying social and cultural backgrounds and with co‑workers at all levels.
Ability to exercise independent judgment as well as work in a team environment.
Ability to use good judgment and foresight.
Ability to think strategically, identify and consider potential solutions and make timely recommendations
Proficiency in operating business computers and office machines
Education, Certificates, Licenses, Registrations:
High school diploma or equivalent
Experience in relevant field or in overseeing the acquisition of materials
Knowledge of equipment and services for fire suppression, detection, and security systems, fire sprinkler systems and components, is preferred
Knowledge of inventory monitoring practices
10+ years purchasing experience in the Fire Protection or Construction industry with focus on sprinkler systems and fire safety equipment
Working Conditions:
Workweeks are 5 Days: Monday through Friday
1 hour of Unpaid Time for Lunch is recommended
Start Time is 7:00 AM, End Time is 5:00 PM
Key Requirements:
