Pay Range
Pay Range $66,900
Salary offers at Syracuse University will be based on education, experience, and relevant skills, as well as the academic or professional discipline of the position in the context of the home department, school, or college. Salary offers may also be influenced by prior relevant work or industry experience, where applicable. Faculty pay ranges are for 8.5 months’ salary unless otherwise specified.

Job Description
Reporting to Dr. Lee McKnight, Director of the ABC Innovation Lab at Syracuse University School of Information Studies, in cooperation with the Maxwell School of Citizenship and Public Affairs Dynamic Sustainability Lab, this position will create human-centered agentic AI-enhanced data services and support further development of new open cloud, edge and blockchain-based tools (see: https://www.advancingmarkets.org), as part of a multi-year grant from the USDA’s Advancing Markets for Producers program. The researcher will support and mentor both undergraduate and graduate students working on this project. Opportunities for limited teaching may be available as mutually agreed.
Qualifications
Doctoral degree (PhD) or equivalent in: Artificial Intelligence, Information Science, Data Science, Environmental Science, Engineering, or Policy, Management, or Computer Science.
Job Specific Qualifications
Experienced artificial intelligence and machine learning researcher with knowledge of R, Python, and cloud services, foundation models, LLMs, and agentic AI systems.
Distributed system and decentralized blockchain application as well as open-source development experience helpful.
Preferred candidates will have understanding of human-centered-design of sociotechnical systems, and strong interest in sustainability.
Knowledge of supply-chain verification and traceability helpful.
Responsibilities
50% Research, 35% AI/ML, Cloud and Open Plugin Updates, 15% mentoring student researchers.
