OPERATIONS MANAGER: WESSELS. Salary On Site Position
The Operations Manager at Wessels plays a vital role in guiding the operation in Tiffin, OH. This position expertly oversees the entire operation, ensuring excellence in Quality Control, Fabrication, Purchasing, Inventory Management, Material Handling, and Shipping and Receiving. Additionally, the Operations Manager will manage day-to-day functions related to Facilities, Maintenance, and Human Resources
Plan, organize and coordinate production and validation schedules across multiple shifts to meet safety, quality, delivery, and cost goals
Communicate and present at all levels within the organization and can work cross functionally between all departments including Sales, Engineering, Planning, Purchasing, Quality, Shipping & Receiving
Oversee inventory stock levels to maintain continuous throughput, work closely with Wessels purchasing to secure components and materials to meet schedules setting stock levels and replenishment targets
Implement and sustain measures to motivate employees, progress production methods, improve equipment performance, achieve product quality and efficiency
Perform employee evaluations and assess performance for training opportunities
Responsible for the tracking and budgeting of departmental expenses, capital expenditures and labor budgets.
Ensures that all processes and procedures comply with ASME standards
Oversee workflow and workloads to meet specifications and schedules
Promote continuous improvements throughout the department
Other duties as assigned
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
BS, BBA or relevant field of study with 5 years of manufacturing management experience
Experience managing teams
Experience in forecasting, EOQ, min/max levels, kanban
Review and analyze KPI’s in relationship to strategic organizational goals
Experience with personnel performance evaluations and budgeting
Ability to read and interpret blueprints
Excellent organizational and leadership skills
Strong knowledge of ERP software, Microsoft Office products, Outlook, Word, Excel and PowerPoint
Must have strong communications skills capable of effectively communicating with customers, both internal and external
Experience with Lean Manufacturing and continuous improvement practices
Understanding of quality standards and health & safety regulations
Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
Willingness to learn new skills, software and practices
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
MBA in Operations Management or Supply Chain Management
Fabrication / Welding, Manufacturing or Production background
Knowledge of ASME Pressure Vessel codes and requirements
Lean Six Sigma Certification
OSHA 10 hr. Certification
BAAN (Visual) or IFS ERP experience
Microsoft PowerBI
Practical knowledge and experience of machining, fabrication, and assembly
Experience in successful Team Building
WORK ENVIRONMENT / PHYSICAL DEMANDS
Office and Shop environment
Steel-toed safety shoes and safety glasses required
Periodic travel to Wessels facility, vendors or trade shows
