Position Overview
The Mechanic A will report directly to the Maintenance Manager. This role is responsible for the hands‑on execution, management, and coordination of maintenance for a fleet of commercial passenger vehicles. The Maintenance Lead will own the scheduling and review of all vehicle maintenance with in‑house and 3rd party maintenance providers, while actively performing repairs and reviewing all repair details and costs. Responsibilities also include controlling roadside response efforts and overseeing all regulatory compliance inspections for the organization’s fleet.
Duties and Responsibilities
Diagnose malfunctions and perform vehicle repairs (e.g. adjust/test steering, electrical, cooling, lubricating, braking systems, drive trains, suspensions, power steering units, clutches, transmissions and oil, temperature, gas regulating components, adjust/test/rebuild engines etc.) and related assigned duties within qualification level, in accordance with all relevant Federal, State/Provincial and local guidelines and requirements.
Oversee and comply with local WeDriveU maintenance and safety SOPs, locally applicable public authority legislation, regulation and standards, ensuring that maintenance staff follow them.
Utilize and oversee the local use of WeDriveU Maximo (Asset Management) ERP application by maintenance facility staff to accurately record and track maintenance work orders and parts inventory.
Manage preventive maintenance and “unscheduled” repairs for the vehicles serviced by this facility.
Represent the maintenance activity at the local level in its interaction, communication and coordination of activities with other local operations functions: driver care, route operations, and customer care.
Supervise the maintenance staff.
Perform advanced diagnostics including electrical, HVAC, braking, suspension, drivetrain, and engine systems.
Lead and assign daily work to maintenance technicians.
Ensure compliance with DOT, federal, state, and local regulations.
Maintain a clean, safe, and OSHA‑compliant shop environment.
Perform road calls and on‑the‑road repairs as assigned.

Skills Required and Physical Demands
Working knowledge of and experience ensuring compliance with federal, state, and local DOT regulations for medium and heavy‑duty vehicles.
ASE Certification as a Master Automotive/Truck Technician.
Experience with Google Workspace Preferred (Word, Sheets).
Strong electronic filing, documentation tracking and organizational skills.
Attention to detail and consistent formatting.
Self‑Motivated, driven problem solver.
5 years of experience in transportation, with a strong preference for passenger transportation history.
Strong verbal and written communication skills.
Extensive hands‑on mechanical experience with strong diagnostic aptitude.
Education and Qualifications
Hard requirements
5 years’ experience with fleet management company.
5 years of experience in Ford, GM or equivalent preferred.
