Responsibilities
Provide circulating and/or scrub nurse support for adult cardiovascular procedures in the CVOR, maintaining sterile technique and proper counts.
Collaborate with surgeons, anesthesia, and perioperative staff to ensure patient safety and optimal workflow during operative cases.
Perform preoperative verification, patient identification, and planning; assist with positioning, draping, and instrument handling.
Monitor intraoperative patient status, respond to hemodynamic changes, and document events in the electronic health record (EPIC) as required.
Manage instrument and supply control via Omnicell, ensure counts are accurate, and assist with postoperative handoff to recovery.
Float to related CVOR or perioperative units as needed based on census and staffing.
Requirements
Current New York State RN license (active)
Education: Associate degree in nursing from an accredited program
Experience: Minimum 1 year of RN experience; CVOR/perioperative experience preferred
Certifications: ACLS and BLS
Ability to work in an adult CVOR setting; on‑call availability; ability to work scheduled hours (0630–1630 or 0700–1700)
Additional: Ability to float to related units as needed; eligible to work in the United States
