Powertrain Test Technician .
Hourly pay rate:
$35.62
Job Responsibilities
Provide support for test vehicle fleets, including updates, maintenance, safety inspections, and installation/removal of instrumentation
Coordinate builds, preparation, instrumentation installation, and maintenance of single-cylinder and multi-cylinder engines and after-treatment systems
Work with engineers and designers to complete designs, detailed prints, and order prototypes for engine electrical and after-treatment subsystems in support of powertrain system testing in test cells and vehicles
Manage all aspects of the prototype procurement process, including creating bills of materials, pulling part numbers, providing required documentation to purchasing, supporting prototype suppliers, and coordinating receiving, invoicing, and storage
Coordinate test vehicle fleet activities, including procurement, transfers, and bailments for supplier-led testing
Diagnose issues, suggest fixes, and direct rework or updates on prototype test vehicles, engines, after-treatment systems, and prototype parts to minimize downtime and delays
Create custom wiring harnesses as required
Review engine and vehicle test data to ensure proper functioning of new designs and hardware
Perform data collection using calibration tools on defined test plans
Handle catalyst aging activities, including submission and tracking of catalyst aging requests
Job Requirements
High School Diploma or GED required; Associate's degree preferred
Minimum 3 years of experience in engine and vehicle development and testing
Valid driver's license
Proficiency with personal computer systems, including Excel, Word, and PowerPoint
Preferred Experience
Experience using calibration tools such as ATI, ETAS, PTDIAG, or similar
Basic automotive mechanical skills, including powertrain electrical and vehicle systems
Experience with engine and after-treatment build processes, test cell setup, and troubleshooting
Self-motivated, team-oriented, and able to support travel and overtime as required
