Analytical Resource Laboratories (ARL) is a third‑party contract laboratory that has been providing microbiological and chemical analytical testing for food, cosmetics, dietary supplements, and pharmaceuticals for 23 years. We are hiring an entry‑level team member with a background in analytical chemistry, microbiology, biophysics, or a closely related field who is highly motivated, eager to learn, and ready to wear multiple hats.
General Job Description
Working closely with the Team Lead and/or Laboratory Manager, you will oversee multiple projects, manage quality operations, maintain compliance, and support audits and professional development.
Project & Operational Management
Lead multiple projects with a focus on quality
Schedule, participate in, and/or lead Quality Management meetings
Report work progress to supervisor
Document all activities and results and report back to supervisor
Communicate status updates and issues verbally and in writing
Perform all duties and projects as assigned by Quality Management
Quality Management & Compliance
Adhere to all GLP, GMP, and ISO regulations as they pertain to job duties
Address quality concerns and complaints, initiating CAPA as necessary
Create Laboratory Quality Reports for Quality Management
Assist Quality Team in OOS investigations
Work with Quality Management to ensure corrective actions and complaints are addressed promptly
Help ensure laboratory compliance with relevant regulations and standards at all levels
Audits & Inspections
Assist Quality Management with vendor, internal, and customer audits
Assist in internal audits
Assist in QC inspections
Help with QC audits
Assist in governmental and ISO accreditation audits
Vendor & Partner Management
Assist with vendor audits
Fill out partner questionnaires
Training & Professional Development
Successfully complete all required training, including skills and proficiency testing
Acquire and uphold ASQ certification
Stay informed of industry trends, techniques, and best practices
Participate in professional development courses and conferences as directed by Quality Management
Systems & Monitoring

Education & Certification
Minimum: Current matriculation in an accredited university, majoring in a Bachelor’s degree in Food Science, BioPhysics, Microbiology Analytical Chemistry, Biotechnology, or a closely related field
Preferred: Bachelor’s degree in Food Science, BioPhysics, Microbiology Analytical Chemistry, Biotechnology, or a closely related field
Experience
Minimum: Scientific research and technical writing; must be able to interpret and apply federal and ISO regulations applicable to work being done at ARL (i.e., ISO 17025:2017, FDA, cGMP, and GLP regulations)
Preferred: 1+ years experience in Quality, with at least 2 years in lab leadership experience and knowledge of laboratory techniques and advanced understanding of laboratory procedures; internal audit experience/ASQ certified internal auditor
Skills & Competencies
Competency in industry‑specific or industry‑related laboratory techniques and procedures
Clear understanding of the importance of maintaining a clean workspace by following approved procedures and laboratory regulations for testing, health, and safety
Good understanding of laboratory information systems and laboratory equipment
In‑depth knowledge and advanced understanding of laboratory techniques and procedures
Knowledge of the metric system, scientific applications, experimental design, and data evaluation
Ability to work in a GMP/GLP environment
Strong attention to detail
Critical and analytical thinking
Strong work and professional ethics
Excellent communication and a high level of emotional and social intelligence
Commitment to building excellence and being an active contributor to a growing laboratory
Physical & Scheduling Requirements
Able to lift 30 to 50 lbs.
Able to converse fluently in English, verbally and in writing
Able to complete work on time and meet changing scheduling demands, depending on sample load
Able to work closely and cooperatively with leadership
Available 5 days a week, with the possibility of weekend work, if necessary
Able to travel for audits and training, whenever assigned
Adherence to turnaround times and deadlines
A clear understanding of the importance of maintaining a clean workspace by following approved procedures and laboratory regulations for testing, health, and safety
