Northern Bobwhite Field Technician
Seeking Research Technicians to assist with Northern Bobwhite trapping, radio‑telemetry tracking, and nest checking as part of larger experimental studies. Data entry, equipment maintenance, and other duties requested by supervisors. Selected individuals will also gain opportunities to interact directly with the Georgia DNR. Employees will work with minimal supervision on site and should be comfortable working independently. Previous experience with radio‑telemetry is desired. Knowledge of and experience with Microsoft Excel, databases, and ArcGIS are desired. Applicants should be comfortable occasionally working alone after dark.
Responsibilities
Trapping quail – 40%
Tracking quail –
Data entry – 10%
Equipment maintenance – 5%
Travel between sites – 5%
Minimum Qualifications
An interest in game bird management and ecology
Good driving record
Agreement/understanding of consumptive wildlife management practices
Positive attitude and willingness to be a team player
Preferred Qualifications
Experience pulling trailers
Experience operating UTVs
Previous game‑bird work experience
Previous telemetry, field research, and computer experience
Physical Demands
Lift up to 50 lbs. for brief periods and work in inclement weather.
Driving.
