Sit Down Forklift / Material Handler

This role focuses on safely operating sit-down forklifts and other material handling equipment to move, load, and unload materials, products, and inventory throughout a busy distribution facility. You will support multiple departments as needed, handle heavy lifting throughout the shift, and help maintain an efficient, clean, and organized warehouse operation.
Responsibilities

Operate sit-down forklifts and other powered industrial equipment to move, load, and unload materials, products, and inventory within the facility.
Transport goods to and from storage areas, loading docks, and other designated locations in the warehouse.
Perform heavy lifting throughout the shift, including handling pallets that may reach up to 8 feet in height.
Assist in multiple departments as needed, including order pulling, pallet wrapping, loading docks, and general warehouse tasks.
Use manual pallet jacks and electric pallet jacks (EPJ) to move materials safely and efficiently.
Pull and prepare orders accurately for local and out-of-state deliveries.
Sort, pack, and package materials and products according to instructions and quality standards.
Use hand tools, power tools, tape measures, and other basic tools to complete material handling and light production-related tasks.
Perform visual inspections of materials and products to identify defects, damage, or quality issues.
Support general production activities such as kitting, grinding, deburring, sweeping, and handling scrap metal as required.
Follow cleaning routines to keep work areas, equipment, and common spaces neat and orderly.
Work in and around different areas of the facility, which may include cleanroom, construction, or manufacturing-adjacent environments.
Follow written and verbal instructions accurately, including reading basic measurements and applying math skills where required.
Adhere to Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP) and all safety policies and procedures at all times.
Assess and prioritize tasks in a fast-paced, often changing environment to meet operational deadlines.
Collaborate with team members and also work independently to complete daily assignments.
Use RF scanners (if trained) to track inventory movement and maintain accurate records.
Support a team-oriented environment where everyone assists each other to keep operations running smoothly.
Essential Skills

Ability to operate sit-down forklifts and other material handling equipment safely and efficiently.
Experience with heavy lifting throughout an entire shift, including handling tall and bulky pallets.
Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced, often changing warehouse or distribution environment.
Ability to work well with others as part of a team and also function independently when required.
Ability to properly assess, organize, and prioritize tasks to meet deadlines.
Ability to comprehend and follow written and verbal instructions accurately.
Strong attention to detail and problem-solving skills in a material handling or production setting.
Experience using manual pallet jacks and electric pallet jacks (EPJ).
Comfort working around general production processes such as packaging, inspection, and machine-adjacent tasks.
Willingness and physical ability to perform continuous heavy lifting, bending, and standing throughout the shift.
Additional Skills & Qualifications

Knowledge of RF scanners for inventory tracking is preferred.
Familiarity with warehouse associate duties such as sorting, packing, cleaning, and order pulling.
Experience using hand tools, tape measures, and power tools in a warehouse, production, or construction environment.
Exposure to tasks such as kitting, grinding, deburring, and handling scrap metal.
Basic math skills and mechanical aptitude to support measurement, inspection, and simple production-related tasks.
Understanding of Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP) or similar quality and safety standards.
Comfort working in environments that may involve chemicals, concrete floors, and general industrial conditions.
Ability to adapt to working in different departments and learning new tasks as operational needs change.

Work Environment

The role is based in a busy distribution and warehouse facility that also supports manufacturing operations. You will work around forklifts, manual and electric pallet jacks, hand tools, power tools, and other standard warehouse and light production equipment. The environment is fast-paced and highly collaborative, with frequent interaction across departments and a strong emphasis on safety and teamwork. The facility includes loading docks and large doors, so inside temperatures often reflect the outdoor weather and can feel hot or cold depending on the season. You should expect to be on your feet for most of the shift, performing continuous heavy lifting and physical tasks on concrete floors. Work may involve proximity to chemicals, scrap metal, and general industrial processes, with adherence to Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP) and safety procedures at all times. Attire should be practical and suitable for an industrial warehouse setting, supporting safe movement, use of equipment, and compliance with safety requirements.
Job Type & Location

This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Riverside, CA.
Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $18.00 - $18.00/hr. Eligibility requirements apply to some benefits and may depend on your job classification and length of employment.
