Summary: Responsibility for multiple network entities’ day‑to‑day management of revenue cycle patient access operations including operational budget compliance; productivity, quality, and key metric tracking and reporting; regulatory compliance; problem resolution; personnel management and satisfaction; and performance improvement. Patient access operations may include, but are not limited to admissions/registration, emergency department registration, financial counseling, cashiering, financial assistance, and Medicaid eligibility.

Responsibilities

Patient Access

Maintains familiarity with applicable Federal and State rules and regulations. Educates supervisors and subordinate employees. Develops and successfully implements improvement plans to resume compliance. Actively participates in developing goals, metrics, and objectives. Monitors and reports individual and team metrics. Develops and implements processes and procedures to meet and exceed goals. Collaborates among entities and departments to maintain productivity and quality standards, promoting performance improvement and patient satisfaction. Performs operational analysis, action planning, prioritization, and communication of initiatives, goals, objectives, and measurements. Maintains subject matter expertise in all information systems necessary to lead, implement, and support business processes. Prepares and reports operational data to support budget preparation. Identifies and reports trends and root causes to the director that inhibit departmental performance. Establishes and leads team meetings and bidirectional communication strategies with supervisors.

Education Requirements:

Bachelor’s degree in an appropriate discipline

Licensure/Certification Requirements:

No licensure or certification required.

Professional Experience Requirements:

Five (5) years of progressive experience in related field.

Knowledge/Skills/and Abilities Requirements:

Understands and appropriately applies principles, procedures, requirements, regulations, and policies related to specialized expertise.

This position is employed by NC Health (Rex Healthcare, Inc., d/b/a NC Health), a private, fully‑owned subsidiary of UNC Health Care System, in a department that provides shared services to operations across UNC Health Care; except that, if you are currently a UNCHCS State employee already working in a designated shared services department, you may remain a UNCHCS State employee if selected for this job.
