Shop / Yard Support Associate

The Shop / Yard Support Associate supports branch operations by assisting with yard organization, warehouse activities, equipment preparation, and transportation of materials to and from RoadSafe locations and project sites. This role works closely with the Construction Yard Foreperson and operations team to ensure trucks, equipment, and materials are prepared and available for roadway and construction projects. The position plays a key role in maintaining operational efficiency, safety compliance, and inventory accuracy while ensuring field crews have the necessary tools, materials, and equipment to complete projects safely and on schedule.
Essential Functions

Pull, stage, and prepare materials and equipment for roadway and construction projects, including signs, posts, hardware, tools, and related materials.
Receive, inspect, sort, and distribute incoming shipments and purchase orders.
Maintain accurate inventory levels and notify supervisors of low stock or supply needs.
Assist with cycle counts and inventory management processes.
Organize and maintain warehouse shelves, yard materials, and equipment in accordance with company layout standards.
Maintain clean, safe, and organized warehouse, yard, and storage areas.
Equipment & Fleet Support

Load and unload trucks manually or with forklift equipment.
Ensure trucks are equipped with the required hardware, tools, and equipment based on project task requirements.
Inspect trucks and equipment daily and report any mechanical or safety concerns.
Operate forklifts and warehouse equipment safely and efficiently.
Utilize hand and power tools for cutting, drilling, assembling, and general shop tasks.
Driving & Transportation Support

Transport materials, equipment, and supplies between RoadSafe branches, job sites, and vendors.
Travel on state and local roadways to support operational needs across locations.
Maintain compliance with all DOT regulations and safe driving practices.
Assist field crews and operations teams with deliveries, pickups, and logistics coordination.
Fabrication & Material Preparation

Prepare and assemble materials such as cutting posts, assembling brackets, building reinforcement cages, and constructing templates or forms.
Assist in the sign shop or fabrication area when needed.
Support project preparation to ensure crews have job-ready materials and equipment.
Customer & Administrative Support

Assist with customer and internal order fulfillment.
Process basic sales or rental orders when required.
Respond to customer or internal inquiries regarding materials, orders, or deliveries.
Support vendor and inter-branch deliveries and pickups.
Additional Responsibilities

Maintain compliance with company safety policies, OSHA regulations, and DOT standards.
Assist branch leadership and operations teams with daily operational needs.
Perform other duties as assigned.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

Working Hours: 2nd Shift (3:00pm-11:00pm)
Strong organizational and time management skills.
Ability to follow written and verbal instructions accurately.
Basic carpentry and mechanical aptitude.
Ability to safely operate forklifts and warehouse equipment.
Familiarity with construction materials, tools, and equipment.
Ability to prioritize tasks in a fast-paced operational environment.
Strong attention to safety and detail.
Ability to work collaboratively within a team environment.
Education & Experience

High school diploma or equivalent.
25 years of warehouse, yard, construction, or driving experience preferred.
Experience in construction materials, traffic control, sign installation, or similar environments preferred.
Valid driver's license required.
CDL Class B preferred but not required
HAZMAT certification preferred but not required.
Physical & Compliance Requirements

Ability to lift 5075 pounds regularly.
Ability to stand, walk, sit, bend, and perform physical labor for extended periods.
Ability to work outdoors in varying weather conditions.
Must pass background check, drug screen, and MVR review.
Must meet DOT compliance requirements when operating company vehicles.
Must be able to read and write to complete paperwork, follow instructions, and comply with road safety regulations.
Flexible availability including overtime, nights, and weekends as operational needs require.
