Position Title: Welding Technician
Business Unit: Maag Gala, Inc.
Reports To: Production / Welding Team Leader
Position Location: Roanoke, VA
Main position objectives Operating machine that applies hardening alloy to metal parts.
Position description
Tasks, responsibilities, competencies (List 8-10 specific tasks
start each description indicating an action e.g. leads, advises, develops etc.)
Coat metal products with a hardening alloy according to customer or employer specifications.
Communication skills are essential to work with team members.
Possess ability to setup, operate and repair equipment.
Must have good computer skills and ability to read engineering drawings/blueprints.
Possess ability to multitask.
Ability to use machinery to bevel or chamfer metal parts before coating and use of grinding tools.
Ability to operate welding equipment used in the application of the hardening alloy.
Ability to lift heavy items of up to around 70 pounds.
Provide a great level of attention to detail, focus on the given task and strong attention to quality standards.
Candidate must have reliable attendance.
The incumbent considers all interests of quality, accident prevention and occupational safety as well as environmental safety in a preventive manner within his/her scope of responsibility and supports the avoidance of damages to people, facilities, assets, material and environment actively. The incumbent is obliged to perform tasks requested by management that relate to his/her position scope or arise from company needs. Work in this position is both in an office and a factory floor environment, either locally and at a customer site. While performing the duties of this job in a factory setting, the employee may be exposed to fumes or airborne particles, moving mechanical parts and vibration. The noise level in the work environment and job sites can be loud and PPE may be required.

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to talk or hear. This position is very active and requires standing, walking, bending, kneeling, stooping, crouching, crawling, and climbing. The employee must be able to lift items up to 50 pounds.
