Position Summary
We are seeking a detail-oriented and patient-focused Medical Assistant / Scribe to support our OB/GYN providers and clinical team. This dual-role position combines hands-on patient care with real-time clinical documentation to ensure efficient, high-quality care delivery. The ideal candidate is organized, adaptable, and committed to maintaining accuracy, professionalism, and a positive patient experience in a fast-paced clinical setting.
Key Responsibilities
Patient Care & Clinical Support
Greet and escort patients; obtain and document medical histories, vital signs, medications, and allergies in the EHR
Prepare patients for exams and procedures; assist providers during visits and minor procedures
Administer medications, injections, and perform phlebotomy as ordered and within scope of practice
Maintain clean, stocked exam rooms and ensure compliance with infection control standards
Clean and sterilize instruments according to clinic policies
Accurately label, handle, and process specimens and lab orders
Clinical Documentation (Scribing)
Document patient encounters in real time under provider direction, ensuring accurate and complete clinical notes
Maintain up-to-date patient records, including medications, allergies, and problem lists
Support value-based care documentation requirements
Care Coordination & Communication
Triage patient calls and messages; respond or route appropriately under provider guidance
Communicate test results and coordinate prescriptions with pharmacies as directed
Schedule tests, referrals, and procedures; ensure timely follow-up and task completion
Compliance & Quality
Adhere to HIPAA, OSHA, CLIA, and organizational policies
Maintain patient confidentiality and complete required trainings (e.g., CPR, OSHA, HIPAA)
Participate in team meetings, quality initiatives, and continuous improvement efforts
Assist in maintaining accurate documentation for billing and regulatory requirements
General Responsibilities
Demonstrate professionalism, reliability, and strong teamwork
Ensure prenatal charts are completed and closed appropriately post-delivery
Perform additional duties as assigned
Qualifications
Completion of an accredited Medical Assistant program required
Current CPR certification (or ability to obtain within 4 months of hire)
Previous medical office experience preferred
OB/GYN experience preferred
Experience with medical scribing or clinical documentation preferred
Required Skills & Competencies
Strong interpersonal and customer service skills with a patient-centered approach
Excellent verbal and written communication skills
Ability to multitask and prioritize in a fast-paced environment
Working knowledge of medical terminology and clinical workflows
Proficiency in EHR systems and basic computer applications
Ability to remain calm and effective in high-pressure situations
Team-oriented with the ability to work independently when needed
Physical Requirements
Ability to stand, walk, bend, and sit for extended periods
Frequent use of hands for clinical tasks, typing, and equipment operation
Ability to lift or move up to 25 pounds using proper body mechanics
Visual acuity for reading screens, labels, and documentation
Ability to communicate effectively with patients and team members
