Position Summary: This is a great opportunity to work in a respected practice as a Medical Assistant. Successful candidate must maintain a professional image and appearance at all times and in all communications. Must be able to multi-task while maintaining good patient and staff relations.
Essential Job Functions:
Provide courteous and friendly service to all patient and contributes to a positive team-based work environment
Facilitate good patient care under the supervision of providers, assisting with such tasks as patient education, examination preparation, taking vitals, recording patient medical histories, injections, ordering labs and procedures
Patient scheduling
Prepare exam rooms with necessary equipment and supplies and keeps exam rooms clean and tidy
Electronic maintenance of patent records and other information.
General Skills:
Solid interpersonal skills including strong verbal and written communication abilities
Ability to work in a stressful environment reacting calmly and effectively in all situations
Ability to work as a team player and able to cooperate and collaborate with others
Clinical Skills:
Accurate vital signs: (blood pressure, pulse, temperature, height, weight)
Infection Control: (PPE, hand washing, sharps containers, biohazard disposal)
Equipment use and maintenance: (ophthalmoscope/otoscope, sat. monitor, thermometer)
Electronic medical record/computer skills: (access and record in patient charts, schedule, complete assigned tasks)
Rx refills/authorizations
Test ordering, authorizing, and recording
Giving injections
Additional Job Functions & Expectations:
Willingness and ability to be cross trained in multiple clinic roles to support overall operations
Primary assignment will be Rooming Medical Assistant duties but must have the ability to provide coverage for check out Medical Assistant responsibilities when needed
Ability to assist with front desk duties, including patient check-in and general administrative support, as required after training
Adaptability to changing workflow demands in a fast-paced clinical environment
Collaborative team member who supports coworkers to ensure continuity of patient care
Qualifications:
Completion of and certification from an accredited Medical Assistant program/school
Current CPR certification or obtain within 4 months of hire
Working knowledge of medical terminology
Ability to bend, reach, lift, pull, push and/or carry up to 10 pounds regularly and up to 50 pounds occasionally
Ability to stand and sit for prolonged periods of time
Previous experience preferred
Clinic Hours: 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. Monday
Thursday and 8 a.m. to 12 noon on Friday
Additional Notes: Must be willing to travel to Mesquite with other staff 2 times a month for clinic.
