Production Attendant
This position weighs, packages, and labels products.
Essential duties and responsibilities include the following. Other duties may be assigned.
Assemble containers as needed and place them in position for filling or dumping.
Makes up labels as needed and applies them according to established packaging procedures. Uses bar code system.
Periodically checks production for quality; notifies supervisor, if necessary, when poor quality is observed.
Monitors and operates weighing equipment.
Occasionally trains inexperienced employees.
Drives forklifts as needed to move product to their proper location.
Keep equipment and work area clean and orderly, cleans up major spills when required.
Packages products according to established packaging procedures.
Records and maintains all production data in accordance with established procedures.
Uses safe working practices and reports hazardous conditions at all times.
Periodically relieves others, as directed by the Shift Supervisor.
This job has no supervisory responsibilities.

Qualifications to perform this job successfully include:
High school diploma or general education degree (GED); or one to three months related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
Ability to read and comprehend simple instructions, short correspondence, and memos. Ability to write simple correspondence. Ability to effectively present information in one-on-one and small group situations to customers, clients, and other employees of the organization.
Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals. Ability to compute rate, ratio, and percent and to draw and interpret bar graphs.
Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form. Ability to deal with problems involving several concrete variables in standardized situations.
Should be capable of printing labels and entering basic information into computer software systems.
Forklift license.
