Work Schedule: Monday thru Thursday (5:30 a.m. to 4 p.m.)

POSITION SUMMARY: The Welding Trainee will have a fundamental knowledge of welding basics and have the opportunity to build upon their skills.
Skills that will be taught:
Reading and understand blueprints and welding drawings
Measure and cut material to specifications
Weld materials using the correct material to join the metals together
Set-up components for welding according to specifications
Perform MIG welding according to specifications (horizontal, vertical, and overhead)
Identify and use proper welding hand tools and equipment
Position parts using clamps and tack welds
Complete quality inspection of welds
Repair welds, holes and metal parts as needed
Complete production requirements while ensuring quality and safety standards are met
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS: (The following duties and responsibilities are all essential job functions, as defined by the ADA, except for those that begin with the word "may.")
Follows welding procedure specifications when welding
Trains and assists with performing quality welds able to pass radiographic examination
Trains and assists with performing quality welds using various welding process, such as GMAW, SMAW, FCAW, etc.
Trains and assists with producing quality welds with efficiency
Trains to perform or assist with fitup and preparation of welds
Performs or assist with post weld cleanup, inspection, and repair
Communicates regularly with the Field Foreman regarding issues and concerns on the job site
Trains to determine the required tools, materials and welding methods based on the project specifications
Assists with the assembly, installation, and repair of pipe components and systems according to specifications
Inspects all materials, equipment, and tools required to perform the work
Maintains supplies, equipment, and tools
Properly prepares materials by clamping, cutting, or applying chemical solutions to piping
Observes all safety regulations
Performs other related duties as assigned to assist with successful operations and business continuity.
Qualifications

POSITION REQUIREMENTS
Successfully passes background check, preemployment drug screening, an any preemployment aptitude and/or competency assessment(s).
Inperson, predictable attendance
Must have a general knowledge of AWS, API, ANSI, and ASME codes and standards
Must have the ability to read tape measurements
EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE LEVEL
High School Diploma or GED equivalent certificate
Some exposure to MIG Welding
Experience in a manufacturing environment not required, but highly desirable
QUALIFICATIONS, SKILLS, COMPETENCIES, AND ABILITIES
Willing to work in a fast paced production environment
Willing to learn both concepts and techniques of blueprint reading and Fitting
Must be able to utilize large weld rods (3/16" minimum) in multi positions in an effective and efficient manner
Ability to learn to read and interpret blueprints, schematics, and written instructions
Must be able to troubleshoot and have a strong attention to detail
Must have physical dexterity
Must be able to follow verbal directions
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS/WORK ENVIRONMENT

Daily required to walk, sit, climb, bend, reach and squat/kneel. Work environment includes exposure to hazardous materials, operating conditions, audio up to 85 dB and inclement weather, including typical and atypical outdoor elements and extreme cold and hot weather temperatures . Given these conditions employees are required to wear company mandated and issued personal protective equipment (PPE) ( fire retardant clothing, welding hood, face shield, steel toe boots, safety glasses, ear protection, and welding gloves ) and must strictly adhere to all safety policies. Weld Trainees are regularly required to lift heavy objects; therefore, the Weld Trainee must be able to lift 49 lbs. independently and 50 100 lbs. with a team lift.
Work hours may include or includes early morning, late evenings, and weekends, depending on business necessity.
