Surface / CNC Grinder Machinist

Set up, operate, and run manual and CNC grinding machines, including surface, OD/ID, vertical, and horizontal grinders. Perform hand grinding and precision finishing on complex, tight?tolerance components. Complete full machine setups, adjustments, changeovers, dress wheels, and tear?downs. Read and interpret blueprints and GD&T daily to meet critical engineering specifications. Grind moderate to highly complex parts in a precision job shop environment. Inspect parts using micrometers, calipers, height gauges, and other precision measuring tools. Troubleshoot grinding processes, machine issues, and dimensional discrepancies. Perform routine preventative maintenance (coolant, oils, filters, machine cleanliness). Collaborate with engineering and machining teams to improve processes and reduce scrap.

Additional Skills & Qualifications: The ideal candidate should have experience with the following: Grinding very small and tight radius. Shape surface grinding with a fixture. Surface grinding with carbide, stainless, and/or mild steel (carbide is preferred but not required). Low volume for average lot sizes (job shop environment - ideally 1 to 10 parts per order). Honing experience would be a HUGE plus (Honing is a finishing process used to improve the geometry of a part, readjust the alignment of features such as holes or bores, and produce a finer surface finish). Desired Skills and Qualifications: 3-5 years of MANUAL surface grinding experience on tool and die components, fixtures, and/or punches. Able to perform complete machine set-ups, experience grinding various types of materials. Strong math skills and the ability to hold very tight tolerances (ideally down to +/-.0001). Proficient with reading and interpreting blueprints; Geometric Dimensioning & Tolerancing (GD&T). Capable of performing first piece and in-process inspections using: micrometers, calipers, gauges, etc. Honing experience is a plus.

Pay and Benefits: The pay range for this position is $25.00 - $40.00/hr. Eligibility requirements apply to some benefits and may depend on your job classification and length of employment.
