Production Process Coach - U Trim
The Production Process Coach - U Trim supervises a large team of unionized production employees in an automotive manufacturing environment. This role oversees daily operations, ensures adherence to policies and procedures, and drives performance, safety, and quality on the production floor. The coach leads 5090 employees, provides clear direction, and makes quick decisions in a fast-paced setting while maintaining strong working relationships across the plant.
Responsibilities
Supervise 5090 unionized production employees in the U Trim area of the plant, providing clear direction and daily oversight.
Oversee day-to-day production activities, ensuring work is completed safely, efficiently, and in accordance with established standards.
Hold team members accountable for following company policies, procedures, and work rules within a union environment.
Monitor production lines and material handling processes to support continuous flow and minimize downtime.
Make quick, sound decisions in a very fast-paced production environment to address issues as they arise.
Coordinate with other departments and leadership to support production schedules and operational goals.
Use basic computer tools, including Excel, to track performance, report on production, and support operational planning.
Provide coaching, feedback, and support to employees to maintain high levels of performance and engagement.
Demonstrate resilience and professionalism when handling difficult situations and high-pressure scenarios.
Adjust to rotating swing shifts and extended work hours, arriving before production starts and staying after production ends as needed.
Essential Skills
Previous supervision experience, ideally 35 years, in an automotive manufacturing facility.
Proven experience supervising employees in a union environment.
Background in the automotive industry, preferably with an OEM or Tier 1 supplier.
Experience in logistics or material handling within an automotive setting.
Basic computer literacy, specifically the ability to work with Excel.
Strong leadership skills with the ability to hold others accountable to policies and procedures.
Ability to make quick, effective decisions in a very fast-paced environment.
Resilience and thick skin to handle challenging situations and high-pressure demands.
Flexibility to work rotating swing shifts and extended hours, including 6070 hour weeks when required.
Additional Skills & Qualifications
Bachelor's degree, preferably in a relevant field, is highly beneficial.
Recommendations from automotive management professionals are considered a strong asset.
Strong soft skills, including communication, conflict resolution, and relationship building.
Experience working in or with major automotive manufacturers is advantageous.
Comfort working in a structured, policy-driven environment with unionized staff.

Work Environment
The role is based in a high-volume automotive manufacturing plant with a very fast-paced production environment. Work involves supervising unionized employees on the production floor and in material handling areas. This is a swing shift position rotating every three months between A, B, and C crews: A crew production runs MondayThursday from 6:00 a.m. to 4:30 p.m.; B crew runs TuesdayFriday from 6:00 p.m. to 4:30 a.m.; C crew runs Friday and Saturday from 6:00 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. and Sunday and Monday nights from 6:00 p.m. to 4:30 a.m. Supervisors are expected to arrive 3045 minutes before the line starts and remain after production ends, and some weeks may require 6070 hours of work. The environment requires quick decision-making, close attention to safety and quality, and frequent interaction with production staff. Business casual attire is appropriate, with options such as polo or golf shirts suitable for the setting.

The pay range for this position is $30.00 - $37.00/hr.
