Job Description:
Cleans operating room suites or procedure rooms between cases and assists with terminal cleaning as requested. Performs timely delivery and pickup of supplies, records, x-rays, orders, and equipment as needed. Maintains cleanliness and neatness of lounge and changing rooms in collaboration with the Environmental Services department. Cleans storage areas and stocks supplies such as scrub brushes, masks, shoe covers, hats, cleaning supplies, and garbage bags. Assists in patient care preparation, including completing pre-op checklists, shaving surgical sites, and performing betadine scrubs. Supports the RN in providing quality patient care through comfort and hygiene measures, skin care, safety measures, and nutrition. Performs technical tasks such as setting up equipment, glucometers, pulse oximeters, prepping, positioning, and other tasks requested by nursing staff. Collects and delivers specimens while practicing universal precautions as directed by the Registered Nurse. Safely and timely transports patients interdepartmentally and upon discharge. Performs other duties as assigned. Assists in cleaning, sterilizing, setting up, and maintaining equipment such as anesthesia circuits, monitoring lines, and laryngoscope blades. Transports used/soiled equipment, instruments, and supplies from patient care areas to Central Processing for processing.
