The Local Truck Driver position will handle local deliveries within a specific area with care, professionalism, and precision. Benefits of Driving with DSV include:

Essential duties and responsibilities include:
Driving semi-tractor/trailers for up to 11 hours after 10 hours off-duty on runs of up to one week or more
P&D locally
Backing trailers to customer dock
Maintaining compliance with Federal and State safety regulations and safe and professional driving behavior
Communicating with customer representatives in a pleasant, respectful, and efficient manner
Communicating and coordinating with dispatchers
Complying with all DOT requirements including drug and alcohol testing
Securing cargo and properly arranging and balancing it within the vehicle
Ensuring that any mechanical issues with the vehicle are corrected before driving
Swinging and securing trailer doors
Performing other duties as required
Qualifications and work experience include:
CDL A License Required
A minimum of 2 years CDL A driving experience within the last 4 years
3+ years CDL A driving experience preferred
Meet D.O.T. qualification requirements, FMCSR 391.41
Experience in load securement, route planning, and navigating various road conditions
Exceptional customer service skills and the ability to handle sensitive cargo with care
Detail-oriented mindset required
Must have a TWIC or eligible to obtain a TWIC card within 90 days, if required
Physical demands include:
Sitting for extended periods while operating a commercial vehicle
Using hands and fingers to operate a steering wheel, controls, GPS devices, and other on-board equipment
Reaching with hands and arms
Climbing in and out of the cab and trailer
Stoop, kneel, bend, or crouch during inspections, coupling/uncoupling, or loading/unloading activities
Communicating effectively using verbal and hearing skills
Seeing at a distance for safe driving, as well as close vision for reading documents, using electronic logs, and performing inspections
Frequently carrying, pushing, or pulling freight weighing 1-125 pounds
Lifting up to 50 pounds
Frequently reaching for freight at waist level and occasionally above shoulder height or below waist level
Shifting manual transmission and operating foot pedals
Climbing in and out of over-the-road tractor, 4 to 6 feet, 8 to 10 times daily with assistance of various steps and handholds; occasionally bending, twisting, climbing, squatting, crouching and balancing
Conducting pre-trip inspection for a tractor and trailer
Being able to hook/unhook various commercial vehicle combinations, manually lower/raise landing gear, operate the fifth wheel release level, lock/release pintle-hooks, fuel vehicles and check engine oil/coolant levels, perform preventative maintenance
Being able to spend at least 5% of day standing and 5% of the day walking on surfaces such as wood, metal and concrete. Surface may sometimes be slippery or wet
Being able to reach above shoulder level, at waist level and below waist level for maneuvering and directing the controls to operate the truck
Work environment includes:
Exposure to diesel fumes, airborne particles, and occasionally harsh weather conditions while loading or unloading
Time spent both inside the truck cabwhich may involve extended periods of sitting and exposure to engine noise and vibrationand outside at customer sites, terminals, or on public roadways
Noise levels can vary from quiet inside the cab to moderate or loud at delivery or pick-up locations
