Therapeutic Recreation Assistant
Part time / Evening shifts available
Northern Manhattan Center for Rehabilitation and Nursing is seeking an experienced Therapeutic Recreation Assistant who is passionate about making a difference in the lives of older adults.
Main Responsibilities:
Leading and completing recreational programs and activities while encouraging and engaging with an older population
Support residents in their leisure time and promote healthy lifestyle choices
Perform physical activities such as, but not limited to, exercise and dancing.
Transporting supplies, lifting, pushing and re-arranging tables and chairs.
Pushing residents in wheelchairs and assisting with transfers.
Maintain accurate records and reports of resident participation and progress
Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to provide comprehensive care
Prepares materials and request supplies for recreation programs, incorporating needs and interest of residents
Clean up supplies and equipment after each activity.
Work with and/or supervise volunteers assigned to his/her work area.
Facilitates access and participation in activities of clients with special needs.
Assists in large group recreation activities.
Attends workshops, seminars, in-service education programs and department meetings.
Perform other tasks as assigned.
Requirements:
High School diploma or equivalent
Nursing Home Experience (REQUIRED)
Therapeutic Recreation Experience 1-2 years (preferred)
Bilingual (preferred)
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
Exceptional customer service skills
Ability to work in a fast-paced environment
