Seasonal Maintenance Worker
The Northern Region Parks Division (NRPD) of the Department of Parks and Recreation is seeking Seasonal Maintenance Workers to support park operations across multiple programs and locations. Seasonal Maintenance Workers perform a variety of routine maintenance, groundskeeping, and custodial tasks to help ensure that parks, facilities, and public spaces are clean, safe, and welcoming for visitors. Positions may support athletic fields, playgrounds, trails, buildings, park grounds, and special events. This is an ideal opportunity for individuals seeking hands-on outdoor work, students seeking seasonal employment, or candidates interested in gaining experience in parks and facilities maintenance.
Examples of important duties include:
Perform general grounds maintenance, including mowing, trimming, edging, leaf removal, and litter collection
Assist with maintenance of athletic fields, playgrounds, trails, and landscaped areas
Perform basic custodial duties, including cleaning restrooms, shelters, and park facilities
Assist with set-up and breakdown of equipment for park programs, rentals, and special events
Use hand tools, power tools, and light equipment safely and properly
Report maintenance issues, safety hazards, and damaged equipment to supervisors
Follow established safety procedures and departmental guidelines
Interact courteously with park patrons and staff
Perform related duties as assigned
Minimum qualifications include:
Must be at least 18 years of age
Ability to perform manual labor for extended periods
Ability to follow verbal and written instructions
Availability to work assigned schedule, including evenings, weekends, and holidays as needed
Preferred qualifications include:
Previous experience in grounds maintenance, custodial work, or general labor
Familiarity with hand and power tools
Interest in parks, recreation, or facilities maintenance
Knowledge, skills, and abilities include:
Knowledge of basic maintenance and cleaning practices
Ability to safely use tools and equipment
Ability to work independently and as part of a team
Ability to work outdoors in varying weather conditions
Strong work ethic and reliability
Effective communication and customer service skills
