We are seeking a mid-level
Environmental and Regulatory Specialist
to support our Salt Lake City office and continued growth throughout the
Great Basin and Colorado Plateau
regions. This role offers the opportunity to work alongside world-class experts on complex and impactful environmental projects, primarily within the
mining, energy, and state and federal planning sectors .
The successful candidate will be based full-time in our
Salt Lake City office

This position requires a strong working knowledge of environmental regulatory processes and compliance; environmental data management, including field data collection, analysis, interpretation, and reporting; project logistics planning; and the development and implementation of project work plans. The role will also involve contributing innovative approaches to projects related to planning, permitting, operations, and closure/reclamation.
Initially, the successful candidate will serve in a
project assistant
capacity, with the opportunity to grow into an
Assistant Project Manager and technical specialist
role. In this position, you will support management with the pursuit, planning, and execution of business development initiatives.
Key Responsibilities
Support field planning and fieldwork for geological, hydrological, and biological studies
Manage environmental data collection and maintain resource data management systems
Assist with the execution of federal, state, and local permitting and planning projects
Prepare, analyze, and interpret technical data to support permit applications
Coordinate project requirements related to federal and state regulations governing mining, oil and gas, transmission, generation, water resources, and land development throughout the Western U.S.
Develop project scopes of work and assist with managing project budgets and schedules
Collaborate with senior leadership on marketing and business development efforts
Support expansion of services with new and existing clients, including preparation of technical proposals
Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree in environmental science or a related field (advanced degree preferred)
Minimum of 5 years of professional experience, preferably in consulting, mining, and/or energy sectors
Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications
Working knowledge of GIS and database management systems; CAD experience is a plus
Experience interpreting maps and using GPS for field data collection
Strong problem-solving abilities and emotional intelligence
Business development experience or interest in supporting client development efforts; a “seller/doer” mindset
Ability to work effectively both independently and as part of a team
Ability to perform in fast-paced, demanding office and field environments
Excellent interpersonal, verbal, written, and presentation skills
Key Performance Requirements
Maintain annual target utilization @ 85%.

Clean driving record
Willingness to accommodate routine travel, extended field assignments, and evolving project demands
Hybrid or office-based work environment, with travel to project sites and client locations as needed (approx. 25-30%).
