Location: Gaffney, South Carolina, United States

Schedule: Nights (weekends as needed); Full Time
Hours: 11pm to 7am and 7pm to 7am
Responsibilities
Decisions concerning sample collection and handling
Daily instrument maintenance and quality control
Sample testing
Collection and interpretation of data
Maintenance of accurate records and reporting of data
Knowledge of critical values
Perform quantitative and qualitative clinical laboratory studies to comply with physician requests, providing data for diagnosis and treatment of disease
Provide and understand the specific communication, developmental and treatment needs of patients, families and visitors across age ranges from neonate to geriatric
Comply with established standards and practices; may be asked to modify or reassign duties as necessary
Understand and comply with Standards of Behavior and department policies, procedures and regulations
Troubleshooting
Moderate chemical, biological and/or low-level radiation exposure
Communication skills for interaction with the health care team, technical services, and patient education
Moderate lifting (up to 50 lbs) or equivalent effort
Ability to withstand the stress and demands of an active position and extensive periods of standing, walking, stooping, bending and sitting
Manual dexterity, good eye-hand coordination, adequate vision and hearing
Ability to operate complex instrumentation
Team player with positive interactions; ability to work irregular/flexible hours
Maintain strict confidentiality of work-related information
Maintain credentials and licensure; trained and competent on limited procedures in Highly Infectious Disease Testing
Read, write, and speak English fluently; color vision test may be required
Qualifications
Education
Associate degree in Laboratory Science
Experience
1-3 years' experience in a hospital laboratory
License/Registration/Certifications
MLT registry through ASCP
