Temporary Technician (Xu)

Job Summary
The technician would help with a variety of both laboratory and field tasks related to research on the biogeochemistry, bioavailability, and bioaccumulation of metals in ecosystems. Specific tasks would include field collection of samples, laboratory processing of samples for chemical analysis, assisting with current students’ experiments, and routine duties related to the efficient operation of our laboratory facilities. The position is full-time with flexibility in work hours.

Responsibilities
Fulfills routine duties related to the efficient operation of the three lab facilities: the main lab, hood lab, and fish lab, including purchasing chemicals and supplies, maintaining equipment, instruments, and sample tools, and updating safety-related documents. (20% of time)
Assists the research project, including field sampling, sample processing, chemical analysis, and data management. (60% of time)
Assist graduate students and postdocs with ongoing research.
Physical Demands
Must be able to lift 50 lbs, sitting/standing/walking, carrying/lifting, pushing/pulling/reaching, keyboarding, gross/fine manipulation, driving, stooping/crouching/kneeling, speaking/hearing.
