The Alaka`ina Foundation Family of Companies is looking for a

Junior Acoustic Field Engineer

to support our government customer located in

Andros Island, Bahamas .

Candidate shall be responsible for the support of real-time (At Sea) acoustic and environmental test operations for the AUTEC Project.

DESCRIPTION OF RESPONSIBILITIES

Perform system calibration, system operation, preventative and corrective maintenance and system modifications.

Support acoustic and environmental data processing and generate detailed test reports.

Troubleshoot computer-based hardware and signal processing equipment to board level and in some cases component level.

Specify equipment requirements, generate test plans, monitor purchases, and perform acceptance tests. Integrate new system components into acquisition systems and generate operator procedures.

Supervise the acquisition, processing and analysis of data products during real time operations.

Act as system administrator ensuring Cyber Security compliance. Support system patching and system vulnerability assessments.

Frequent travel required.

Other duties as assigned.

REQUIRED DEGREE/EDUCATION/CERTIFICATION

BS Degree required in specialized field Electrical Engineering, Ocean Engineering, Computer Science, or Physics (Acoustics). Position requires specialized working knowledge of acoustic signal processing and underwater sound propagation.

3 years related experience working in the operation and maintenance of computer-based data acquisition systems and analog/digital signal processing and electronics is required. Troubleshooting of electronic equipment is required. Valid driver’s license and passport will be required. Security+ and Windows certifications are a plus.

REQUIRED SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE

Experience in operating and maintaining PC-based signal processing equipment and system Local Area Networks. In-depth knowledge of MS Windows and Office. Familiarity with Linux operating systems.

Physical ability to lift, push, pull and carry up to 50 pounds is required to deploy acoustic sensor arrays and to configure test equipment.

Knowledge in signal measurement hardware is required including signal analyzers, processors, filters, amplifiers, A/D converters, D/A converters, function generators, and sensors.

Maintenance and operation of conductivity, temperature, depth (CTD) instruments and analysis of their data products.

Maintenance and operation of weather station systems and analysis of its data products.

Formal training in underwater acoustics is required.

Experience in electronics, acoustics, computer science and ocean technology with an emphasis in Windows systems is required.

Knowledgeable with Microsoft Office programs (Outlook, Word and Excel). Working knowledge in MS Visual Studio and National Instruments Measurement Studio.

Experience with MATLAB, C# and LabVIEW is required.

Ability to obtain required Security+ and Windows certifications.

Frequent travel will be required.

Excellent organizational skills.

Excellent oral and written communication skills.

Must be able to work in remote location with limited medical facilities.

REQUIRED CITIZENSHIP AND CLEARANCE

U.S. Citizenship is required.

This position requires the individual to be eligible to obtain a DoD security clearance.
