Job Summary
The Niles Public Library District is seeking two dedicated and professional Librarians to join our Adult Services Department. Under the supervision of the Adult Services Supervisor, you will provide exceptional library services, perform collection development, and deliver comprehensive reference and advisory services to our patrons.
Adult Services Librarian will...
Provide uniformly gracious and friendly service to all internal and external customers while maintaining a patron-centered attitude
Perform collection development responsibilities in assigned areas
Deliver comprehensive Reference and Advisory services, including Readers', Listeners', and Viewers' Advisory
Schedule and host adult programs in coordination with the Adult Services Assistant Supervisor
Market the collections and services of the Adult Services Department effectively
Participate in staff meetings, conferences, and educational opportunities
May be asked to represent the Library at community outreach events or programs
Requirements
Master's Degree in Library Science from an ALA-accredited institution
Ability to communicate and work effectively with the public and all levels of Library staff
Bilingual or Spanish speaking preferred
Strong organizational skills with ability to work with minimal supervision
Proficiency in Microsoft Office and basic computer skills
Excellent communication skills in English, both verbal and written
Flexibility to work evenings and weekends as needed
Physical ability to lift up to 25 pounds occasionally and transport/move up to 100 pounds occasionally
Salary
$29.33 per hour
