The University of Maine is seeking a storyteller and video creator to bring the energy, people and impact of our campus to life through social‑first video. This is a full‑cycle creator role—ideal for a video journalist, content creator or social media reporter who wants to own stories from idea to impact. You’ll pitch, report, shoot, host, edit and publish original content that captures everything from breakthrough research and major events to the everyday moments that define life at UMaine.

Typical hiring range for this position is $54,000 to $60,000 commensurate with qualifications and experience.

Qualifications

Bachelor’s degree in journalism, communications, broadcast journalism, film, digital media or a related field, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.

1‑3 years of professional experience in video journalism, social media reporting or multimedia production.

Demonstrated ability to produce end‑to‑end video content independently.

Strong on‑camera presence and interviewing skills.

Solid video shooting, lighting and audio skills.

Experience in a newsroom, broadcast or digital‑first reporting environment.

Familiarity with short‑form social video trends and best practices.

Excellent writing, editing and verbal communication skills.

Ability to manage multiple projects and meet deadlines in a fast‑paced environment.

Ability to work independently and collaboratively as part of a team.

Valid driver’s license and ability to travel locally.
