Overview The Nurse Practitioner (NP) is a licensed provider responsible for assessing and managing various patient populations, including those with medical and/or surgical conditions, providing diagnostic and therapeutic interventions, developing plans of care, and conducting ongoing evaluations. The NP may also perform additional duties such as precepting a small group of learners. The NP provides direct care, counseling, and education to designated patient populations in ambulatory, inpatient, operative, and/or procedural settings. The NP performs complete histories and physical examinations, orders and interprets laboratory and diagnostic tests, develops appropriate plans of care and follow-up based on diagnostic findings, and orders medications and writes prescriptions according to organizational and regulatory policies. The NP consistently provides high-quality and timely documentation (admission and progress notes, procedure notes, operative notes, discharge summaries) and performs bedside procedures as appropriate to the patient population. Other duties as assigned and compliance with all policies and standards.
Responsibilities Provide direct care, counseling, and education to designated patient populations across ambulatory, inpatient, operative, and procedural settings.
Perform complete histories and physical examinations.
Order, interpret, and evaluate laboratory and diagnostic tests.
Develop and follow up on plans of care based on diagnostic findings.
Order medications and write prescriptions in line with organizational and regulatory policies and procedures.
Maintain high-quality, timely documentation including admission, progress, procedure, operative, and discharge notes.
Perform bedside procedures as appropriate for the patient population.
Complete other duties as assigned; comply with all policies and standards.
