Position Summary
The Accounting Manager will oversee and execute all accounting functions for a small, growing company. This is a
hands-on role
responsible for managing day-to-day accounting through financial reporting, budgeting, and forecasting, while also providing support to key human resources functions. The ideal candidate has prior experience working in a
small business environment , is comfortable wearing multiple hats, and can independently manage the company’s financial operations with accuracy and accountability.
Responsibilities
Accounting & Financial Management
Manage all aspects of the company’s accounting function, including general ledger maintenance
Prepare timely and accurate monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements
Perform month-end and year-end close processes, including journal entries and reconciliations
Oversee accounts payable, accounts receivable, payroll coordination, and cash flow management
Develop and maintain budgets; prepare forecasts and provide variance analysis
Monitor financial performance and provide insights to leadership for decision-making
Ensure compliance with GAAP and applicable local, state, and federal requirements
Coordinate with external partners, including CPAs, auditors, and tax preparers
Maintain accounting policies, procedures, and internal controls appropriate for a small business
Budgeting & Forecasting
Lead annual budgeting process in collaboration with leadership
Prepare rolling forecasts and cash flow projections
Analyze trends, costs, and operational performance to support business planning
Human Resources Support
Support HR and administrative functions, including:
Payroll processing and benefits coordination
New hire onboarding and employee setup
Maintaining personnel records and compliance documentation
Assist leadership with HR reporting, headcount tracking, and employee-related costs
Serve as a liaison with external HR, payroll, or benefits vendors as needed
Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field
Proven experience managing all accounting functions for a small business
Strong knowledge of general ledger accounting, financial reporting, budgeting, and forecasting
Ability to work independently and take full ownership of accounting responsibilities
Solid understanding of GAAP and best accounting practices
Strong organizational skills with high attention to detail
Ability to handle multiple responsibilities in a dynamic environment
Experience using QuickBooks or Zoho Books
Prior experience supporting human resources or payroll functions
Experience working directly with company owners or executive leadership
Background in a growing or entrepreneurial business environment
Hands-on, self-directed, and solution-oriented
Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
Excellent communication skills with both financial and non-financial stakeholders
High level of discretion and professionalism
