Music Faculty, (Strings)


Position Overview


The Department of Music is seeking an Adjunct Professor to teach courses in the area of strings, including applied music and strings methods for Music Education majors. Depending on departmental needs, general education courses may also be assigned. Candidates must demonstrate strong teaching ability in string‑related coursework and be prepared to create supportive learning environments that motivate students from diverse backgrounds.

Appointment Type


Time limited, 9 to 10 months.


Salary


Commensurate with education and experience.


Requirements



  • Master’s Degree or higher in Music or a related field from an accredited institution.

  • Two or more years of experience in a related field.

  • Valid U.S. driver’s license.

  • Ability to teach applied music to all string students (violin, viola, cello, and double bass) and a strings method course for Music Education majors.


Preferred



  • Doctorate Degree in Music or a related field.

  • Three years or more of college‑level teaching experience.


Responsibilities



  • Teach undergraduate courses in strings, including applied music and strings methods for Music Education majors.

  • Teach undergraduate courses in the general education curriculum, depending on experience and departmental needs.

  • Develop and implement instructional materials, assessments, and assignments that meet departmental standards.

  • Create and maintain a supportive, inclusive learning environment that motivates students from diverse social identities and backgrounds.

  • Participate in faculty meetings and professional development activities as required.
