Accountability
This position is responsible for procuring, negotiating, and maintaining various commodities, inventory and expense, to support market sales of Fives Cincinnati products.
Scope and Responsibilities
Proactively attain a safe and healthy work environment for all employees.
Generate and adjust purchase orders for assigned commodity requirements.
Input, maintain and adjust records or transactions to ensure system validity.
Evaluate material requirements for assigned commodities.
Negotiate lead time and stocking levels for assigned commodities.
Generate request for quotation, negotiate with and select suppliers.
Compile, summarize and communicate supplier performance.
Work with suppliers (and potentially cross-functional internal teams) to address lead time reduction, want date integrity, quality performance, cost reduction efforts and technical improvements.
Consolidate suppliers to reduce supplier base, while still maintaining at least two sources allowing competitive conditions for commodities.
Investigate and evaluate new supplier sources in cooperation with Quality & Engineering personnel.
Audit suppliers with Quality and Engineering personnel making sure quality processes and procedures are in place to provide the best value and quality.
Handle supplier credit problems and invoice errors.
Compile data and prepare reports as requested and required.
Communicate and interface with departments, personnel and suppliers on a routine basis.
Maintain regular and predictable attendance.
Ability to work overtime and/or work on "off-shifts" as required by business need.
Ability to work and interact with other people on a routine basis.
Carry out under general supervision broad and complex assignments requiring comprehensive knowledge in the field of specialization and of the organization in order to interpret and apply policies, as well as develop recommendations for change.
Education / Certification
Associate's degree (A.A.) or equivalent from a two-year college or technical school; or three to five years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
Experience
Three to 5 years’ experience purchasing commodities for highly technical products. Machine tool experience preferred.
Skills
Effective Negotiating
Good communication – written and verbal
Working knowledge of SAP
Good understanding of Lean Manufacturing concepts
