This extra‑curricular position is available in the Rockwood School District for the 2025-26 School Year. Season=____
Start date for this coaching position is August 24, 2026.
RSD contracted teacher will be paid a stipend. RSD hourly employee will be paid the same stipend amount but at an hourly rate. Non‑RSD staff will be paid the same stipend but at an hourly rate.
POSITION SUMMARY : A coach/sponsor will mentor, guide, and support students in their athletic or extracurricular pursuits by fostering personal growth, teamwork, and skill development.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
Provide supervision of students during all aspects of program
Develop training programs, provide instruction and feedback
Foster team cohesion
Plan competitions and contests, including out of season activities
Collaborate with school administration
Ensure compliance with regulations
Promote sportsmanship and character development in an encouraging and inclusive environment
Proactively communicate schedules and information to parents and administration
Coaches and sponsors must adhere to the standards of conduct outlined in District Form 5002 Code of Conduct – Coaches, Sponsors, and Chaperones. It is important for all coaches and sponsors to understand that this list is not exhaustive; it is intended to provide specific, but not exclusive, examples of the standards of conduct that are appropriate for persons who coach and sponsor student activities.
ESSENTIAL SKILLS AND ABILITIES:
Has knowledge and experience in the sport or activity
Must possess leadership skills, and be able to set an example for the players.
Effective communication skills to inspire players and work with them on improvement.
Must be available to work nights, holidays, evenings, and weekends, and be prepared to work in bad weather and be willing to travel with the team to different locations for competitions.
(Head Coaches) Must be willing to provide off‑season training and practice following MSHSAA Guidelines
BASIC REQUIREMENTS:
AED/CPR/First Aid Certified (preferred)
Annual MSHSAA training requirements
Excellent professional references
Clean criminal and child abuse and neglect records check
High School Graduate 2 or more years prior
EQUIPMENT USED:
Standard office equipment.
Sport/Activity equipment
WORK ENVIRONMENT:
Duties will require the employee to sit, talk, hear, walk, stand, see, and reach.
Duties will require the ability to lift and/or move up to 10 pounds.
Duties will require working non‑traditional hours including evening and weekends.
