Fire Alarm Technician - Kuparuk Field Support Services - Camp Maintenance
Job Summary
The Fire Alarm Technician position will perform installation, programming, maintenance, and assist with design of fire alarm signaling systems and related devices. This position works with low voltage systems and performs all work in accordance with the National Electrical Code (NEC).
Essential Duties
Conduct inspections of Fire Alarm systems and system components.
Programming for Simplex Fire Alarm Panels.
Perform and document preventative maintenance inspections.
Review applicable standards and codes to establish quality requirements and verify acceptance of finished product.
Ensure all deliverables conform to drawings and specifications.
Perform preventive maintenance on a variety of equipment.
Monitor the installation of electrical equipment including conductors, conduit, cable, devices, cable trays, and hardware for compliance with customer requirements and company quality standards.
Work involves exposure to extreme cold temperatures and otherwise hazardous conditions at various locations.
Troubleshooting panel components such as NIC cards, power supplies etc. Other troubleshooting includes ground faults and open circuits.
Good time management, self‑motivation, and a strong safety culture are necessary.
Comply with Company and customer policies and procedures.
Support AES zero‑incident safety culture and assume personal accountability and responsibility for safe work practices in all projects, activities, and operations.
Other duties will be assigned to this position as needed.
Required Experience
Must be authorized to work in the U.S.
A High School Diploma or equivalent is required.
A valid (U.S. issued) Driver’s License is required.
A North Slope Training Cooperative (NSTC) safety training certification is required.
A valid NICET II Fire Alarm Certification (Alaska Class IB) is required.
The ability to work 84 hours a week on a 3x3 rotation is required.
At least five (5) years of experience as a Fire Alarm Technician is required.
Preferred Experience
Five (5) or more years of experience working as a Fire Alarm Technician specifically in the Petrochemical or Oil and Gas industry, on the North Slope, and/or in other Arctic environment is preferred.
Two (2) or more years of industrial facility maintenance experience is preferred.
An Electrical Journeyman Certificate of Fitness with the State of Alaska is preferred.
