
Head Start Education Program Specialist /Disabilities
North Central West Virginia Community Action Association, Fairmont, WV, United States
Responsible for the system design, planning, guidance, support, and training, as well as the implementation and monitoring of Education/Disabilities services and assure compliance as outlined in the Head Start/Early Head Start Performance Standards, Head Start Act as well as other national and regional regulations and policies.
License/Training/Certifications
Complete an application for Career Pathway Registry (STARS) along with application for Professional Development Provider.
Preferred: experience in child development with working knowledge of developmentally appropriate practices.
Preferred: home visiting experience with knowledge of health and/or social work helpful.
Preferred: State Pre‑K Teaching Certification.
Preferred: complete the Non‑Violent Crisis Intervention (CPI) certified instruction training.
Job Requirements / Skills / Responsibilities
Typical work hours Monday‑Friday 8:00‑4:00 p.m. unless a 4‑day/10‑hour schedule is approved.
Evening/weekend hours and overnight travel as needed.
Ability to travel from site to site, providing own transportation.
Valid driver’s license.
Vehicle with adequate insurance coverage for on‑the‑job use.
Safe driving record.
State and Federal Bureau of Investigation Criminal History Check.
Sex Offender Registry Check.
Protective Services Record Check.
Initial Health Assessment and required updates.
TB risk assessment or TB screening by Mantoux method prior to hire.
