Business Development Manager - Consumer Products
This position is fully remote. The Business Development Manager will be proactive, driven, and passionate about building relationships and uncovering new opportunities within the vitamin, supplement, health care, home care and wellness product sector. The role focuses on prospecting, qualifying leads, and supporting the sales team in expanding MCC’s market presence while articulating the value proposition of packaging solutions.
New Account Development
Prospect for potential new clients – cold call and set up meetings with potential clients and decision makers.
Work with the team to develop proposals that address client needs, concerns, and objectives.
Participate in pricing the solution/service.
Handle objections by clarifying, emphasizing agreements, and working through differences to a positive conclusion. Use a variety of styles to persuade or negotiate appropriately.
Client Retention
Present new products and services and enhance existing relationships.
Work with technical staff, analytics group, marketing, and other internal colleagues to meet customer needs.
Arrange and participate in internal and external client debriefs.
Account Planning
Attend industry functions, such as association events and conferences, and provide feedback and information on market and creative trends.
Present to and consult with mid and senior level management on business trends with a view to developing new services, products, and distribution channels.
Using knowledge of the market and competitors, identify and develop the company’s unique selling propositions and differentiators.
Administrative
Submit weekly progress reports and ensure data is accurate.
Enter and manage data accurately within the company’s CRM or other sales management systems.
Forecast and meet sales targets.
Track and record activity on accounts.
Qualifications
4+ years of experience in business development, sales support, or related roles.
Previous experience working in the vitamin/supplement or health/home/personal care sectors required.
Willingness to travel 30‑40% to customers or sites when needed.
Strong communication and relationship‑building skills.
Ability to research and identify potential customers.
Proficiency in Microsoft Office; experience with CRM systems (Salesforce a plus).
Highly organized, detail‑oriented, and able to manage multiple priorities.
This role is primarily office-based or home office-based, requiring extended periods of sitting, computer use, occasional walking or light lifting, and may involve brief visits to manufacturing areas; reasonable accommodations will be provided as needed.
