About the Role
We are seeking an experienced IT Infrastructure Contractor to join our team on an initial fixed-term basis to support and deliver several ongoing infrastructure projects. The successful candidate will work closely with our internal IT team and project stakeholders, bringing deep technical expertise across Microsoft Azure, on-premises infrastructure, networking, and infrastructure-as-code practices.
This is a hands‑on technical role requiring someone who can hit the ground running, take ownership of workstreams, and deliver to agreed timelines with minimal supervision.
Key Responsibilities
Design, deploy, and manage infrastructure using Infrastructure as Code (IaC) tools, including Terraform and/or Bicep/ARM templates
Administer and support Windows Server environments (2016 through to 2025), including Active Directory, DNS, DHCP, Group Policy, and related services
Architect and manage Microsoft Azure environments including compute, networking, storage, identity, and security services
Plan and execute on-premises to Azure migration projects, ensuring minimal disruption and adherence to best practices
Configure and manage network infrastructure, including firewalls, VPNs, and Cisco routing and switching
Troubleshoot complex infrastructure issues across hybrid environments
Produce clear technical documentation, including as-built documentation, HLD/LLD designs, and runbooks
Collaborate with internal stakeholders and third-party vendors to deliver project outcomes on time and within scope
Infrastructure as Code
Proven, hands‑on experience with IaC tooling such as
Terraform ,
Bicep , or
ARM templates
Understanding of version control practices (Git) and managing IaC in a collaborative environment
In-depth knowledge of Azure services including but not limited to: Virtual Machines, Azure Virtual Network, Azure Firewall, NSGs, Azure AD / Entra ID, Azure Site Recovery, Azure Migrate, and Azure Monitor
Experience designing and implementing Azure Landing Zones or equivalent governance frameworks
Understanding of Azure RBAC, policies, and security best practices
Windows Server Administration
Strong hands‑on experience administering
Windows Server 2016, 2019, 2022, and 2025
Active Directory management, Group Policy, DNS, DHCP, and certificate services
Experience with Hyper‑V and/or VMware virtualisation platforms
Networking
Solid experience with firewall configuration and management (e.g. Fortinet, Palo Alto, Cisco ASA, or similar)
VPN configuration– site-to-site and remote access (IPsec, SSL/TLS)
Cisco routing and switching– configuration and troubleshooting (OSPF, BGP, VLANs, spanning tree)
Hands‑on experience with
F5 BIG‑IP – including Local Traffic Manager (LTM), configuration of virtual servers, pools, health monitors, and iRules
Experience with
Azure Application Gateway , including WAF (Web Application Firewall) policy management, SSL termination, and URL-based routing
Familiarity with additional load balancing technologies such as
Azure Load Balancer , F5 GTM/DNS, or similar platforms
Understanding of application delivery concepts including SSL offloading, session persistence, and traffic shaping
On-Premises to Azure Migrations
Demonstrable experience delivering lift‑and‑shift and re‑platform migrations to Azure
Familiarity with Azure Migrate, Azure Site Recovery, and database migration tooling
Ability to assess on‑premises workloads and produce migration plans
Relevant Microsoft certifications (e.g. AZ‑104, AZ‑305, AZ‑700) or Cisco certifications (CCNA/CCNP)
Any additional scripting, automation, or cloud‑adjacent experience relevant to the role
Personal Attributes

Strong communicator – able to translate technical detail into clear language for non‑technical stakeholders
