Airport Law Enforcement Officer - Armed Patrol (Honolulu, HI)

You will safeguard the airport, staff, and its facilities through driving, patrolling, checking, and securing doors. Conduct routine patrols, remain highly visible, and deliver outstanding customer service and communication to all visitors and staff. This role offers the opportunity to contribute to a secure environment while working as part of a dedicated team that values agility, reliability, and integrity.
Position Type

Full Time – Overnight
Pay Rate

$28.86 per hour with an hourly bonus of $3.58. Premium paid based on the position actually worked by the employee.
Job Schedule

Daytime: Tue 11:30 PM – 08:00 AM, Fri 11:30 PM – 08:00 AM, Sat 11:30 PM – 08:00 AM, Sun 11:30 PM – 08:00 AM.
Minimum Qualifications

To be considered, all applicants must meet the following criteria:
2+ years of professional law‑enforcement experience in the U.S. after graduating from a certified law‑enforcement academy (Federal, State, or County level).
Pre-Employment Requirements

Graduate of Law Enforcement or Military Police Training Program or Equivalent (must provide credentials upon applying).
Valid Driver's License.
Law Enforcement Officer License.
22+ years of age.
Formal Education, Licenses, and Certifications Required

Applicant must complete one of the following approved programs:
Certified State law‑enforcement recruit training.
Certified County law‑enforcement recruit training.
Federal law‑enforcement training.
Programs approved by the Director.
No felony convictions or convictions for abuse of a household member under the Lautenberg Amendment to the Gun Control Act of 1968 (18 U.S.C. § 922(g)(9)), or documented truthfulness infractions in violation of Giglio/Henthorn for federal impeachment proceedings (referring to Giglio v. United States, 405 U.S. 105 (1972) and United States v. Henthorn, 931 F. 2d 29 (9th Cir. 1991)).
Knowledge and Skills Required

Supervise contractor personnel and work effectively with airport management, tenants, other law‑enforcement agencies, and the public on matters relating to security disputes, complaints on the performance, conduct, or behavior of subordinate employees.
Other Related Attributes That Would Enhance Hiring Consideration

No record of moral turpitude, domestic violence, untruthfulness, or mental or emotional disorders that may interfere with performance of duties.
Responsibilities

Provide customer service by carrying out security‑related procedures, site‑specific policies, and, when appropriate, emergency response activities.
Respond to incidents and critical situations calmly and in a problem‑solving manner.
Exercise sound judgment and render immediate, appropriate decisions under stressful conditions.
Display mature conduct, behavior, and attitude.
Take orders, follow instructions, and assume responsibility for one's actions.
Maintain alertness, attentiveness, and professional conduct; recognize, respond, and take appropriate and corrective actions to various situations.
Possess strong moral character and high standards of truthfulness.
Communicate effectively, verbally and in writing, in English.
Demonstrate courtesy in inter‑person relationships with the public, airport employees, tenants, law‑enforcement, and security personnel.
Provide court appearance for citations issued on behalf of DOTA if required; contractor shall provide replacement staffing during court proceedings.
Physical Requirements and Environment

Mentally and emotionally capable of performing all duties required for assigned post/duties.
In good physical health; fully capable of performing normal or emergency duties requiring moderate to arduous physical exertion such as standing, walking, patrolling for an entire shift, climbing stairs, running, and self‑defense.
Perform essential physical tasks, with or without reasonable accommodation, including:

Lifting and carrying objects weighing up to 25 lbs. (e.g., fire extinguisher) for a designated distance.
Assisting in safe evacuation of individuals, including carrying a small child or providing support to persons with limited mobility.

Subject to a random drug screen.
Exercise physical force, if required, in the execution of official duties.
Pass a security background check conducted by the DOTA pass and ID office.
Be well‑groomed and neat in appearance as officially commissioned representatives of the State.
Pass and complete a one‑time physical examination within the past 6 months.
Pass a 12‑panel drug test and all future random drug testing.
Vision 20/30 or better in each eye with normal color vision.
Hearing at a normal conversational level; hearing aid may be used if required.
