As an Airport Law Enforcement Officer - Armed Patrol in Hilo, HI, you will safeguard the airport, staff, and its facilities. You will drive, patrol, check, and secure doors. You will conduct routine patrols, remain highly visible, and deliver outstanding customer service and communication to all visitors and staff. Position Type:

Part Time - Overnight

Pay Rate:

$28.86 / Hour with an hourly bonus of $3.58. Premium paid shall be based on the position actually worked by the employee.

DayTime Mon 09:15 PM - 05:15 AM Sat 09:15 PM - 05:15 AM Sun 09:15 PM - 05:15 AM

Each LEO will possess the following minimum qualifications (NO EXCEPTIONS):

To be considered, all applicants must meet the following criteria:

2+ years of professional law enforcement experience in the U.S. after graduating from a certified law enforcement academy (Federal, State, or County level)

Pre-Employment Requirements:

Graduate of Law Enforcement or Military Police Training Program or Equivalent (must provide credentials upon applying)

Valid Driver\'s License

Law Enforcement Officer License

22+ years of age

Basic Qualifications:

The basic qualifications listed below are representative of the relevant knowledge, skills, and/or experience required in order to be hired. These are requirements that we have determined are the minimum a candidate must have in order to be successful in this role.

Formal Education, Licenses, and Certifications Required:

Applicant must complete one of the following approved programs:

Certified State law enforcement recruit training

Certified County law enforcement recruit training

Federal law enforcement training

Programs approved by the Director

Minimum qualifications include no felony convictions or disqualifying criteria (refer to internal standards)

*A valid driver\'s license will be required for driving positions.

Knowledge and Skills Required:

Must be able to supervise Contractor\'s personnel and work effectively with airport management, tenants, other law enforcement agencies and the public on issues related to security disputes, complaints, or conduct concerns

Shall have no record of moral turpitude, domestic violence, untruthfulness, or mental or emotional disorders which may interfere with performance of duties

Responsibilities:

Provide customer service to clients by carrying out security-related procedures, site-specific policies, and, when appropriate, emergency response activities

Respond to incidents and critical situations in a calm, problem-solving manner

Exercise sound judgment and render immediate, appropriate decisions under stressful conditions

Maintain maturity in conduct, behavior, and attitude

Take orders, follow instructions, and assume responsibility for actions

Maintain alertness, attentiveness, and professional conduct; recognize and respond to various situations

Possess high moral character and truthful behavior

Communicate effectively in English, both verbally and in writing

Maintain courtesy in interactions with the public, airport employees, tenants, law enforcement, and security personnel

LEOs may be required to provide a court appearance for citations; contractor to provide replacement staffing for court appearances

Physical Requirements and Environment:

Mental and emotional capacity to perform duties

Good physical health; capable of standing, walking, patrolling, climbing stairs, running, and self-defense for an entire shift

Ability to perform essential physical tasks, with or without reasonable accommodation, including: lifting and carrying objects up to 25 lbs

Assisting in safe evacuation of individuals

Subject to a random drug screen

Ability to use/apply physical force if required

Pass security background check

Well-groomed and neat in appearance

Pass a recent physical examination and drug testing per policy

Correctable vision to 20/30 with color vision; normal hearing
