Job Description
Teaching Assignment:
High School Science (preferred certification in Biology, Chemistry, or Physics)
Other core subject certifications (Math, ELA, Social Studies, etc.) will also be considered
Plan and deliver engaging, TEKS-aligned instruction
Assess student learning and provide feedback to support growth
Utilize effective classroom management and instructional strategies to meet diverse student needs
Coaching Responsibilities:
Assistant Boys Basketball Coach
Secondary sport assignment in one of the following: Softball, Track & Field
Assist with program development, daily practices, and game preparation
Supervise student-athletes and promote sportsmanship and character development
Support off-season training, strength and conditioning, and athlete development
Comply with UIL, district, and campus expectations
Class Sponsor Responsibilities:
Serve as a class sponsor (grade level assigned by campus administration)
Organize and oversee class meetings, activities, and student-led initiatives
Coordinate fundraising efforts and manage class accounts in accordance with district guidelines
Assist in planning major student events (e.g., prom, homecoming activities, graduation-related events)
Promote student leadership, responsibility, and school spirit
Communicate effectively with students, parents, and administration regarding class activities
Additional Requirements:
Must hold or be eligible to obtain a valid Texas Teacher Certification (Science preferred; other core areas considered)
Must hold a valid Commercial Driver’s License (CDL) or be willing to obtain it within the first year of employment
Willingness to support student‑athletes beyond the classroom through strength/conditioning, off‑season development, and travel
Strong communication, collaboration, and classroom management skills required
Preferred Qualifications:
Experience in coaching at the high school level
Strong background in student engagement and differentiated instruction
Ability to contribute positively to campus culture and athletic program growth
Work Environment:
This position requires a commitment to both academic excellence and athletic program support. Candidates should expect a schedule that includes instructional duties during the school day and coaching responsibilities outside of school hours, including evenings, weekends, and travel for athletic events.
