Position Summary
We have an exciting opportunity to join our team as a Research Data Associate. In this role, the successful candidate is responsible for providing direct data and/or clinical research support of clinical trials, studies, and general research, under direct supervision. Works with clinical research center, CTSI, Beyond Bridges, and other medical center staff, including directors, managers, clinical information systems, research nursing, and regulatory services, and staff in other NYU Langone Health departments as needed. May also interface with patients and their families, community partners, and high school, undergraduate, and medical students and other clinical research center trainees. This role requires excellent communication and organizational skills, an understanding of medical research processes, and a genuine commitment to patient care and the communities we serve. The role is based at the NYULH Brooklyn Clinical Research Center with a multi-disciplinary research team that is dedicated to conducting clinical research in the community.

Job Responsibilities

Utilize established quantitative and qualitative methodologies to collect patient, partner, staff, and/or trainee information for both research and evaluation projects; gather and compile data, statistics, and other materials as needed.

Input clinical and nonclinical data into the database and/or case report forms; extract data for publications or provide data collection from outside physicians' offices.

Perform library searches and retrieve reference materials from various sources and request articles from medical journals.

Ensure protocol compliance, following standard steps regarding eligibility criteria, follow-up process, and documentation.

Compile data, assist in consolidating and analyzing data for presentation to sponsoring and regulatory agencies; review data with supervisor and provide reports to all parties (e.g., data and safety monitoring committee, principal investigator, sponsoring agency).

Recruit and screen potential patients/subjects for eligibility to the study.

Interact with patient/subject and families in a courteous and professional manner; collaborate with various personnel involved with specific aspects of the study.

Demonstrate knowledge of policies and procedures of the host institution where the study is conducted, including regulatory requirements such as IRB and other approvals if necessary.

Initiate and continue regular contact with patients; encourage visit reminders and compliance to research; ensure contact with patients and families is courteous, effective, professional, and cooperative.

Gather, properly package, store, and transfer slides, samples, and other important materials; coordinate shipment and transfer of varied types of materials among departments and labs.

Complete assessments on study subjects/patients per protocol (with proper training); continue to follow through with items and patients as part of research study.

Additional Position Specific Responsibilities
Participate in scientific publications.

Minimum Qualifications

Associate’s degree plus one year of related experience or equivalent combination of education and experience.

Good interpersonal, writing, and verbal communication skills.

Ability to identify, analyze and solve problems.

Ability to manage time and work well under pressure.

Computer literate with proficiency in Microsoft Office applications such as Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook.

Familiarity with Internet applications.

Preferred Qualifications

Bachelor’s degree, preferably in science, public health, health education, or a related field.

Prior experience in healthcare or research settings.

Prior patient education experience.

Knowledge of research methodologies, protocols, and regulatory requirements.

Attention to detail and a commitment to maintaining accurate and confidential patient records.

Proficiency in using electronic health records (EHR) systems and other relevant software applications (e.g., REDCap, Qualtrics), including qualitative research tools (e.g., Dedoose, Atlas.ti).

Familiarity with medical terminology and the ability to comprehend scientific literature.

Compassionate and patient‑centered approach to care, with a commitment to ensuring patient safety and well-being.

Proficiency in another language is a plus.

Qualified candidates must be able to effectively communicate with all levels of the organization.

NYU Langone Health provides a salary range to comply with the New York state Law on Salary Transparency in Job Advertisements. The salary range for the role is $21.94 - $28.16 Hourly. Actual salaries depend on experience, education, and hospital needs. The salary range listed does not include bonuses, differential pay, or other compensation or benefits.
