Summary
BHMG Family Practice – The Medical Assistant provides direct patient care and clinical support within an outpatient clinic. Responsibilities include obtaining vital signs, reconciling medications, collecting patient history, and facilitating patient flow.

Reconciling medications and facilitating patient flow.
Managing the electronic health record (EPIC), scheduling appointments, processing medication requests, handling prior authorizations, and coordinating tests and procedures.
Performing EKGs, lab tests, injections, and/or phlebotomy upon successful completion of clinical competency.
Ensuring efficient patient care and support for providers through strong communication and organizational skills.
Providing on‑site support for essential job functions.
Qualifications
High School Diploma or General Education Equivalency.
1+ year(s) experience as a Medical Assistant in a medical office, clinic, or similar setting, including direct patient care such as obtaining vital signs, documenting patient history and medications, and performing clinical procedures (e.g., EKGs, phlebotomy, administering injections or vaccines).
Graduate of an accredited Medical Assistant training program that includes hands‑on patient experience.
Upon hire, successful completion of a clinical competency assessment and MA orientation; otherwise enrollment in the Medical Assistant Trainee Program.
Basic computer skills and experience with EMR systems.
Basic Life Support certification from the American Heart Association within 90 days of hire.
BAT and DOT certifications required for Medical Assistants in Occupational Medicine within 90 days of hire.
Preferred Qualifications for a Certified Medical Assistant
Current Medical Assistant Certification from AAMA, AMT, NAHP, NCCT, or AAMP.
Graduate of an accredited LPN or RN program with current unrestricted licensure.
Repeat of prior qualifications for orientation and certifications.
