Physical Requirements:
Ability to lift, carry, push, and pull 50-100 pounds daily, 25-50 pounds frequently; stand, walk, and sit for long periods. Exposure to communicable diseases, radiation hazards, and injury from intractable patients or sharp instruments may occur.
Shift:
Must work two 12-hour shifts every Saturday & Sunday from 7A-730p as part of the Weekend Premium Pay Plan; also required to work some holidays.

Job Summary
Registered Nurses on the Neuroscience Progressive Care Unit at UK Chandler Hospital provide progressive neurological and neurosurgical care for adult patients 15 years and older, including stroke, head trauma, spinal cord injury, spine surgery, and other neurological conditions.
The RN serves as an essential member of the acute care team, responsible for close monitoring and treatment of complications related to neurological injury, and for delivering patient-centered care.
Responsibilities
Assess, document, plan, implement, teach, develop, and evaluate comprehensive nursing plans of care.
Deliver direct patient care and ensure patient satisfaction.
Train and delegate duties for Nursing Care Technicians (Nursing Assistants).
Adhere to University policies, procedures, and federal, state, and local regulations.
Collaborate with nursing staff and physicians to enhance communication and patient outcomes.
Utilize the nursing process with a comprehensive patient-centered plan of care.
Qualifications & Skills
Knowledge of Maslow's Eight Basic Human Needs, Gordon's Functional Health Patterns Framework, and Swanson's Caring Model.
Superb direct patient care and critical thinking skills.
Basic computer navigation skills and working knowledge of the internet.
Effective professional and respectful communication with patients, families, co-workers, and physicians.
Strong organizational, prioritization, and delegation skills; highly motivated, proactive, and confident in patient advocacy.
Ability to work effectively in a team and independently.
Preferred Education & Experience
BSN + at least one year of RN experience preferred.
Other Information
Does not have supervisory responsibilities.
